Screw Pump Packing Seal: Functions, Application Scenarios, Advantages and Disadvantages

 

1. Main Functions

Shaft end sealing: Seal the gap between the drive shaft and pump housing of the screw pump to prevent medium leakage.

Air intake prevention: Block outside air from entering the pump cavity to avoid pump dry running, flow reduction and cavitation.

Dust and impurity prevention: Prevent external dust and particulate impurities from entering bearings and the pump interior, protecting the rotor, stator and bearings.

Vibration damping and buffering: Provide certain buffering and compensation for slight shaft eccentricity and pump vibration.

2. Application Scenarios

Suitable for clean water, sewage, sludge and general low-corrosive chemical media.

Applicable to low-speed single screw pumps / triple screw pumps under normal temperature and medium-low pressure.

Ideal for working conditions allowing slight dripping (minor leakage is permitted for lubrication in normal operation of packing seals).

Widely used in water supply and drainage, sewage treatment, papermaking, food slurry and general industrial conveying conditions.

Suitable for equipment with limited budget, simple maintenance requirements and on-site quick replacement demands.

Ordinary sealing performance, unable to achieve zero leakage; slight dripping is inevitable during normal operation.

High friction power consumption, causing wear on the pump shaft and shaft sleeve after long-term operation.

Regular manual compression and packing replacement are required, leading to high maintenance frequency.

Not suitable for high pressure, high vacuum, flammable, explosive and high-value media (leakage may cause safety hazards or material loss).

Available in aramid, PTFE, graphite and more materials for different application scenarios.
